She said that last part like she assumed she was safe, that the title of ‘WIFE’ should have kept her safe, that love would honor and protect her. Instead, she was left temporarily destitute. The court battle that ensued during the divorce tied up any assets. She spent her career days serving the family as a stay at home mom. She was left with nearly nothing in the end. The church took her in after that. They took care of her with charitable donations, gave her a small job and fresh start to try again. She went from having it all to poverty and needed charity.
I stood there, in the reality of fate, and I promised myself that I would invest in myself first.
